Running and stuff
Here is my Running themed image. I just wanted to kinda pull the character out and stretch things and make him look like he is really hauling ass.

New Topic: Running
Simple, back-to-basics theme. I went out running yesterday and every time I do I'm reminded that it's something I should do more often. Interpret this one loosely or use it as an opportunity to put some motion into a character pose.

Steampunk - The Amazing Everything Machine
Only a few weeks late, here's my Steampunk contribution. The Feeps, as it turns out, have a Steampunk origin story, and this very Feeplike machine is where it all begins.
The Amazing Everything Machine can cook, sweep, wash floors, make tea, incinerate garbage, answer the door, wake you up in the morning, and who knows what else. If you want to know more about how this relates to my little monsters, I've put up an info page here.

Kunoichi + RALPH
Did anyone ever play 'Rampage!'? It's like.. among my top favorite games. I always played Ralph, the giant werewolf. So I suppose this is my tribute to him, in a way.

New Topic: Muppets in Pop Culture.
It's a huge pleasure to be announcing my first ASS topic!
I want you to re-imagine popular movies, convert your favorite works of art, repopulate bands, or reinterpret the most memorable events in recent history...
...with Jim Henson's Muppets.
Use any Muppets you'd like in your parody- single panel, multi, poster, concept, whatever. Take it as far as you want in your renderings. Use any non-photograpic technique or medium you can get your hands on.
Have some fun.

ATOMIC MENACE ATTACKS CITY!
Damned 15-minute drawings.
Thousands of people flooded the streets today as each of the major American cities was attacked by what witnesses described as "Atomic Giants." The 50-foot-tall, glowing terrors melted down entire buildings, fused cars to the streets, and evaporated local bodies of water, sources say. Luckily, not a single casualty was reported, as this is a parody of a 80's after school style cartoon, parodying a movie from the 50's. Plus, it's a drawing.

Gamera, friend to all children!
I'm pretty sure the first time I saw Gamera was on MST3K. It ruled. He flies around by spinning and flames shoot out of where his arms, legs and head tuck into his shell. Oh, Japan and thier wacky Kaiju!
He's sort of simple in this version, shambling out of the sea like a big doof...

Yeah... this is pretty dumb...
Attack of the 50 Foot Pin-Up!
She's monstrous. Monstrously hot! If my town was going to be destroyed by a 50 foot monster, I'd take her over Godzilla any day of the week.
New Topic: 50 Foot Monster in 15 Minutes
Draw your favorite 50 foot monster or make one up... but here's the catch:
- Time spent on your drawing should only be 15 MINUTES
- Pencil only, one color of lead
- No photoshop except to keep your drawing faithful to what you put on paper
I think we've all done some awesome work over the course of the blog. Every week we push ourselves to do a little better. Sometimes that takes us into some pretty ambitious territory. Now it's time to push in another direction to be loose and rock it with the old fashioned sketch.
As always, multiple posts are more than welcome.
So, get out yer stopwatches and your trusty 2B and get crackin'! Or should I say Kraken :B

Witch Slayer of Oz
OK, so I'm playing catch-up. I plan on doing a more finished version of this, but this is a sketch squad, so I thought I'd show the sketch. This is my take on the movie poster. In my movie, Dorothy stayed in Oz and developed a bit of a god complex. She feels it's her mission to rid Oz of witches, both good and evil. Her companions on this quest are the Tin Man (a haunted suit of armor), The Scarecrow (a mummy in search of the witch who has the canopic jar containing his brains) and the Lion (who shows the ultimate cowardice by becoming a traitor to his companions).

Orange Julius Ninja
Bright orange ninja! Dont' even try to sneak up on his left side just because he's wearing an eyepatch..it's possessed by an oni and grants him vision in that eye. Try to ignore the fact that his hands are far too huge to hold his knife...oops. I wish I had given him a cooler hairdo, maybe the Japanese hero topknot with bangs. Well maybe not bangs....
He's done with gouache on orange mat board.

Party Ninja
Beware the Party Ninja! One minute you're having drinks with him, the next, he's gone. But, in reality, he's probably just passed out behind the couch.

New Topic: NINJA
Hey, I'm up! Totally ninjastic! Oh wait, what was that? NINJA?!
Yes this weeks topic is ninjas! Put on your hachimaki, kiss a kuniochi, and polish your ryugamatachi ( i made that last one up). Tt's all about ninjas and how very awesome they are. Realistic/accurate or total fantasy, have fun with it! They have a ton of neat weapons, techniques and tricks so look those up for some inspiration...or just go with what pops up in your brain when you hear the word "ninja".
Can't wait to see them!

We're all ROCKIN here..
One of ye olde art exercises in school that I so keenly remember in relation to hand turkeys was the whole 'create something out of a shape' ordeal. I always thought those were pretty fun. I made a weasel out of a piece of popcorn once. Anyway. I just had fun with this. And it was liberating, indeed!

CAPE this Saturday
Just wanted to remind everyone that CAPE (Comics and Pop-Culture Expo) is this Saturday, May 5, and Thomas (a.k.a. Goatboy) and I will be out there selling our art to the unsuspecting Free Comic Book Day masses. There's no admission charge for CAPE, so stop by any time (as long as it's between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm) if you're going to be in the Dallas area. It takes place in the parking lot of Zeus Comics - follow the link up there for specific directions.
Hope to see you there!

"We accept you're one of us!"
My turkey... Paying tribute to my punk rock roots with something from the roots of punk rock:
Gabba gabba we accept you, we accept you one of us!
Gabba gabba we accept you, we accept you one of us!
I don't wanna be a pinhead no more. I just met a nurse that I could go for.
