Wow, I haven't posted here in a long time. Thanks to Jason for kicking the ol' blog back into gear.

This isn't really a sketch, but it's a feep I just made and it fits a recent theme, so I thought I'd share.

Steampunk - The Amazing Everything Machine

Only a few weeks late, here's my Steampunk contribution. The Feeps, as it turns out, have a Steampunk origin story, and this very Feeplike machine is where it all begins.

The Amazing Everything Machine can cook, sweep, wash floors, make tea, incinerate garbage, answer the door, wake you up in the morning, and who knows what else. If you want to know more about how this relates to my little monsters, I've put up an info page here.

CAPE this Saturday

Just wanted to remind everyone that CAPE (Comics and Pop-Culture Expo) is this Saturday, May 5, and Thomas (a.k.a. Goatboy) and I will be out there selling our art to the unsuspecting Free Comic Book Day masses. There's no admission charge for CAPE, so stop by any time (as long as it's between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm) if you're going to be in the Dallas area. It takes place in the parking lot of Zeus Comics - follow the link up there for specific directions.

Flying Monkey

One more Oz piece before I get to my Steampunk contribution. I had wanted to do a flying monkey but figured no one was going to do the apple tree, so I did that one first.

I had originally planned to put a simple background on this one, just some ominous clouds, but the monkey pops so well against the colored paper I'm now afraid to do anything else to this lest I screw it up.

Apple Tree

Hey, a tree's gotta eat.

Purple Foxbat

I wasn't trying to do a realistic bat of any particular species, just scribbling something batlike on the paper. This was done on blue Artagain paper, and colored with Prismacolor marker and white acrylic paint pen.

Dragon feep

Since a couple of people requested a dragon feep, I figured I'd see what I had in my photo folders. This one's relatively recent, from late last year. (There is, of course, also THE dragon feep, but I wanted to post something more recent and a little less labor-intensive.)

The Great Sea Dragon

It is EXTREMELY important that you not cut bait or otherwise handle raw fish before seeking the blessing of the Great Sea Dragon. "That WAS a tasty snack. Now, where was that human who was trying to seek my blessing? Hmm. I should probably go get my glasses."

Booze Hound

Another of my drawing-standing-up pieces done during a slow point at a con. I may go back to this concept at some point and turn it into a more polished cartoon.

Bursty the Appendix & the Uninsured Squad!

It's Bursty the Appendix and the Uninsured Squad! Meet Bursty and his teammates: Mr. Contusion, Sprain Jane, and Freddy Frostbite! Each show would focus on a different medical condition that goes untreated. How could the networks say no to something so disgustingly educational??

Convention "fun"

This was a quick scribble I did at a recent show.

I just want to state for the record that I actually don't mind kids and am happy to have them at my table. Most of the kids I encounter are reasonably well-behaved. However, there's always one at every con who is a little out of control and drives off customers. Usually the parents show up shortly and corral the kid. This drawing was inspired by a boy whose parents (fellow dealers, no less) decided they could get some free babysitting out of me.

I'm busy getting ready for a show this weekend (Wheatsville Arts Festival! Dec. 2-3! 3101 Guadalupe! Free admission! Etc.!) so my submission is very much a sketch. It was "inspired" by my lack of sleep last night. Drawn on cheap sketchbook paper with a cheap Pilot VBall.
